We're searching for a new senior coach
by Charlie Walker
Greetings Moonee Valley players and supporters:
Members of the Club committee met with Vic Hodge last night (June 17), where he advised he was not in a position to coach our Club to the level required for the coming season.
His follow-up advice is attached, which we reluctantly and sadly have to accept.
The Commitee and Club wish to place on record our appreciation for Vic's professionalism and expertise over his two seasons as our coach and the significant impact he made right across the coaching spectrum, particularly the hours he spent on intensive work on the technical aspects of the game for individual players. From a personal viewpoint, I acknowledge the great support that Vic gave to myself and the committee in endorsing decisions which were taken in setting the direction of the Club.
We will now advertise for a senior coach for the 2013/14 season.
Vic has expressed his willingness to continue to be involved at Moonee Valley and assist where appropriate, particularly with one-on-one training - provided that a new coach is comfortable with that arrangement.
Charlie Walker.
President, Moonee Valley Cricket Club

Subject: Developments at MVCC
Dear Charlie and Simon
Further to our recent discussion, and as advised at our meeting this evening, it is with genuine regret that due a number of extenuating circumstances I will not be able to meet the required obligations to be Coach for the 2013/14 season.
As I explained there have been a number of personal, professional health related matters that have led to this decision. Primarily my work commitments require a significant increase to interstate travel. My personal circumstances are that I plan to marry my long term partner Tracey, in February and we will be overseas for the month of February. Finally the recuperation from surgery last season has not progressed as well as I would have hoped.
The combination of theses factors has meant that I cannot fully commit to the role for the forthcoming season, and therefore I cannot commit the time and the focus that the role merits.
After a period of two seasons at the club I am sure you can appreciate that this has a very difficult and indeed a painful decision, and certainly one that I have not taken lightly.
I just wanted to take this opportunity to thank the players and staff for the willingness to accept my coaching methods and philosophies. I genuinely believe that together the club has taken very positive strides - albeit this has not necessarily been reflected by results on the field.
I also wanted to thank the committee for their support for supporting the policies and investments that I have implemented over the past two seasons,
Finally and most importantly, I wanted to convey my genuine appreciation and thanks to you - Charlie and Simon for your support and encouragement - and especially your dedication, and for affording me this fantastic opportunity
All that remains is to wish you and the club all the every best for the season and every success both on and off the field.
Whatever the future may hold I have enjoyed my time at MVCC immensely and I am far richer for the experience, and I will always support the club
Many thanks
Vic Hodge
