Passing of Tim Fisher

The Moonee Valley Cricket Club notes with sadness the passing of former player Tim Fisher.

Tim, 30, was killed in an accident involving his motorbike and a truck on March 13.

Tim started in Moonee Valley’s Under 12s in our inaugural junior year in 1996 and played 60 games throughout our junior age groups.

He made his senior debut in 2000/01 while still in juniors, and played 103 games for 462 runs and 107 wickets. Tim played his last game for Moonee Valley in October 2011.

A left arm fast bowler, Tim made his First Eleven debut in Round 6 of the 2005/06 season, taking 2/27 in the win over Seabrook in the VTCA’s North A1 grade.

He played seven First Eleven games.

Tim won the Sixth Eleven bowling award in 2010/11, and took a hat-trick in the Fourths in 2006/07.

He was part of the team which holds the record for inflicting the lowest-ever opposition score against Moonee Valley’s Second Eleven, when we held Westmeadows to just 37 in the North B2 grade in 2004/05. He was also part of the attack which took out the Ninths record in bundling out Brunswick for 64 in 2010/11.

Tim took two wickets in another record – the best defence in the Tenths when we bundled out Oak Park for 111 in defending a score of just 127.

He loved to bowl – and  Tim’s 829 senior overs is the 34th highest of all time at our Club.

He was selected in Moonee Valley’s Wisden Team of the Year in 2010/11.

Our Club’s condolences go to Tim’s mother Linda and his wider family.
