HONORING HEATH ON THURSDAY
The rescheduled date for our Webb-Johnson/Pascu Cup match against Moonee Ponds Cricket Club is Thursday, February 29 - playing on the turf at Ormond Park. The initial date in January was washed out. The Webb-Johnson/Pascu Cup, first played in 2020/21, is an annual event between Moonee Valley and Moonee Ponds to highlight men's health issues. It is a perpetual reminder of two loved and respected players and mates no longer with us - Heath Webb-Johnson of Moonee Valley (left) and Gary Pascu of Aberfeldie Park (since renamed as Moonee Ponds). Up to now we have contested the Cup each time we met in the regular season, but as Moonee Valley is now in a higher grade we have agreed to play off-fixture on a training night. As the current holder of the Cup we will be hosting the game at Ormond Park. It will be a short-form game starting at 6pm - playing 16 overs a side. Both clubs had been hit hard by the loss of much-loved members to men's health issues in recent seasons, and determined to stand up and be counted. The inscription on the cup says everything - "their passion and legacy transcends cricket and will be forever celebrated" We encourage players and supporters from both clubs to come and support the game and our commitment to men's health.
