Finals fever hits Valley this weekend

Moonee Valley has an astounding 10 of its 17 eligible teams playing in finals over the long weekend.

And our feat is even more incredible when you factor in the fact that our Under 12 Green team has a bye this weekend as its reward for finishing in the top two, and our Sevenths would have made the action had the MMVCA One-Day comp not been cut back from a final six to a final four because of the drought.

So in effect 12 of our 20 teams did/would have made the finals in 2006/07 – a truly magnificent feat. Our three Under 10 teams do not participate in finals.

Our Fourths are playing in the C Mats Grand Final in the Moreland Moonee Valley Cricket Association over Saturday, Sunday and Monday, against St Francis at its Rayner Reserve, Pascoe Vale home ground.

Our Seconds are in the B North 2 Semi Final in the Victorian Turf Cricket Association on Saturday and Sunday, playing at home at Ormond Park.

And our Mighty Fighting Eighths are in the One Day Black quarter finals in the North West Cricket Association on Saturday, playing against Rockbank at Rockbank.

Players, parents and supporters are urged to attend as many games and as much play as possible to urge on our teammates and clubmates and encourage them to go all the way.
