Fifths & Sixths are off - NWMCA abandons the weekend. LATE NEWS** - Thirds also off

by

Our Fifths and Sixths on Saturday are off - the NWMCA has abandoned all cricket - see note below.

At this stage our Thirds and Fourths are still a possibility of playing - we hope to find out more this evening.

NWMCA advice:

NWMCA Clubs

Following consultation with Councils and clubs, we have made a decision to cancel ALL cricket matches this weekend, which includes

- Junior mixed competitions Saturday morning
- Senior cricket matches Saturday afternoon
- Senior cricket matches Sunday afternoon

Some councils have closed access to grounds. Other grounds have been assessed by clubs as unplayable across the weekend.

Whilst some grounds will be fit for play, to maintain equity across the competitions, all matches are cancelled.

The safety and well being of players, officials and supporters always comes first. In some areas, we can't get to the grounds to assess suitability for play.

We are also aware that some of our club members are impacted by flooding on their own properties or need to assist family and friends who have been impacted by floods around the state,

Open age two day matches in Luscombe, Stringer, Attwater, Muir, Seipolt, Barron and Clissold Shields will revert to a one day match on 22 October

Further, we expect some of our grounds to be significantly damaged, and potentially unplayable for a number of weeks. This will mean changes to fixtures as we try to move games around. We will focus on getting higher grade matches played, which may mean lower grades unfortunately miss out.

So another weekend without cricket..our thoughts are with those impacted by the floods
