Moonee Valley Cricket Club has reappointed Vic Hodge (right) as our coach for the 2012/13 season. Following two rounds of interview, Vic was confirmed on May 15 as our coach for next season.

The appointment was confirmed at major sponsor the North Suburban Sports Club, after a group of players enjoyed a meal with Vic as part of the NSSC's May Tuesday Parma promotion.

Vic said he was pleased that he could now concentrate on building on the programs and policies that were put in place in his initial year, which saw six of our senior teams make the finals.

Club President Charlie Walker said there was strong endorsement for Vic's reappointment from the Committee, and strong support for his continuation from the Club's playing group.

Moonee Valley's juniors celebrated the end of another excellent season with our presentation nights held on April 27 and March 4.
Our Under 16s and Under 14s held their barbecue and trophy presentation at the Bowls Club rooms on the first Friday, while the Under 12s, Under 10s and Milo In2Cricket program were up for the second night.
Many thanks to our Junior Co-ordinator, Kevin Gardiner for his organisation of the nights, and to the coaches and parents for the presentations and ensuring the hungry hordes were fed with some Mitchell Evans receives his Junior Club Champion award from junior co-ordinator Kevin Gardiner, watched by Under 16 coach Simon Thornton. semblance of order. As well as winning the Ian Denny Trophy for the Under 16 batting award and the Tony Gleeson Trophy as runner-up in the Under 16 Best Player Award, Mitchell Evans won the Junior Club Champion award.
William Blair, who won the Paul Nicol Trophy for the Under 12 bowling award and the Michael Intagliata Trophy for the Under 12 Best Player Award, was runner-up in th Junior Club Champion.

Joe Ansaldo wins coveted Lindsay Jones

 

Our revered Club Founder Ray Storey (left) presented the Lindsay Jones Best Clubman award to Joe Ansaldo. Joe Ansaldo has won the coveted Lindsay Jones Best Clubman Award, which was announced at Moonee Valley's senior presentation night on April 21.

Revered Club founder Ray Storey was down for the occasion with his wife Heather, and presented the perpetual shield to great clubman Joe.

Ray donated the shield, in honor of the late Lindsay Jones.

Amit Chaudhary won the Club Champion Award for the second successive year, again also taking out the First Eleven batting and bowling awards.

Jim Polonidis won the Coach's Most Improved Player Award, while Fourths gloveman Paul Hobbs won the inaugural Wicketkeeper of the Year award, across all grades.

Moonee Valley young gun William Blair has taken out the North West Metropolitan Cricket Association's Under 12 C bowling award - but it's no surprise with the tuition he gets from his dad Bill.

William won the trophy with 14 wickets during the regular season at the miserly average of 8.0, with a best performance of 2/4.

He will need to keep bowling just as well to catch up to dad Bill, a Sunshine United legend in the VTCA who has incredibly twice taken all 10 wickets in an innings in the Firsts.

But young William was certainly happy with the bowling award he was presented with at the NWMCA junior presentation night on March 29, and the Under 12 C Premiership plaque he received on behalf of his teammates.

The Under 12s lifted the only Premiership won by Moonee Valley in 2011/12, and the players were on top of their game all season under the coaching of Paul Baks, ably backed up by assistants Bill Blair and Michael Cumbo.

The Under 12 flag continued an incredible run by Moonee Valley, as junior or senior teams have won at least one premiership every year since 2003/04, with the exception of 2010/11.

Most of the Under 12 players were in their first year in the age group, so they should be a formidable unit as top-age Under 12s next season.
