Congrats to our milestone achievers
Four key Moonee Valley players were set to achieve personal milestones on the February 26/27 weekend, led by Club stalwart and life member Jim Polonidis with his 200th game.

Jim was joined by Matt Thomas, who has been with Moonee Valley since a year after the inception of our juniors and was set to become the first player through the junior program to reach the 100-game milestone.

Coach Lou Raffaele was in line to play his 50th Club game, while our women's captain Clare Ardern was set to play her 50th game - the first of our women players to reach the milestone.

Unfortunately, the women's game - the last round of the season - was called off after the weekend rain made the ground unfit for play. Clare will now have to wait to post the milestone.

Pictured above are (Left to right) coach Lou Raffaele, 100-gamer Matt Thomas, 200-gamer Jim Polonidis and women's captain Clare Ardern.

A Moonee Valley welcome to Surender

Moonee Valley welcomed former Ranji Trophy player Surender Dayma from India for the second part of our VTCA season.
Surender played four games for Delhi in the Ranji Trophy - India's equivalent of Sheffield Shield - with the likes of One Day International opening bowler Ashish Nehra and current Indian Test openers Virender Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir.
Moonee Valley is grateful that Surender's employer, the Standard Chartered Bank North India Branch, granted him extra leave to come to Australia and represent our Club. He returned to India at the end of the final Firsts game, and we're hoping we will have him back next season.
Surender (centre) is pictured here with Moonee Valley captain Mark Gauci (left) and chairman of selectors Amit Chaudhary.
For more on Surender and his career, see the item in our News pages.
