When our Greats drop in to the pavilion.....
It's always a privilege to have some of our greats drop in to the Ormond Park pavilion for a reminisce and to meet our current-day players, and November 15 was no exception.
A small gathering including Ray Storey, Rod and Betty McLeod, Gary Irons, Kevin Gardiner and Tony Hicks spent a few hours at Ormond Park enjoying the cricket, watching the Seconds and talking about old times. At left: Our captain/coach Brayden McGregor (centre) took the opportunity to chat with club greats (from left) Tony Hicks, Gary Irons, Ray Storey and Kevin Gardiner. Ray is an official Legend of Moonee Valley, Rod founded our great club along with Ray, GI and Kevin are avid historians of Moonee Valley and protectors of our heritage, and Tony is always a welcome visitor. Kevin is set to be inducted into the Moonee Valley Hall of Fame at a special dinner on February 7 - the second-highest honor in our club below the bestowing of Legend status. Ray is also keen to encourage more informal drop-ins for past players to watch the cricket at Ormond Park, where those who helped shape our history can get together for a convivial chat and support the modern-day players who are now making their own piece of history. Ray is also keen to expand and develop our memorabilia displays, with some old keepsakes and more photos, trophies and plaques.
