Valleys retain the Webb-Johnson/Pascu Cup
by
Moonee Valley retained the Webb-Johnson/Pascu Cup on February 5 when our First Eleven had a comfortable win over Moonee Ponds.
Playing down at Aberfeldie Park, we bowled tightly in the first innings to knock over the home side for 76.
We then passed them three wickets down just after the halfway interval.
Jesse Felle was the standout with the ball, taking 4/8, while Dejan Gilevski was again steady and solid with two wickets.
It's the second time we've played Moonee Ponds this season, winning the cup match both times.
Both teams lined up for a minute's silence in front of the cup before the game, to honor players who were significant to the respective clubs.
Rather than let tough questions on men's health issues go unanswered the two clubs came together last season for a perpetual reminder of two loved and respected players and mates no longer with us - Heath Webb-Johnson of Moonee Valley (left) and Gary Pascu of Aberfeldie Park - now Moonee Ponds.
The inscription on the cup says everything - "their passion and legacy transcends cricket and will be forever celebrated".
