Valley's juniors shine in the rep cricket games

by

Moonee Valley had a number of players try out in the Under 14 representative games over the Christmas break, and an amazing six of our players pulled on the NWMCA cap.

Another two of our Under 14s were unlucky to miss their chance.

And Peter Wright played for the Victorian Under 15 team.

All in all, it was an excellent opportunity to showcase the talent coming through Moonee Valley's junior program.

Charles Aitken made it into the NWMCA Under 14 First Eleven, and Charles Bibby then played in the team when he answered the distress call for an opening batsman. The team didn't fare to well in the tournament, but our boys did their best and should be proud of their achievements.

Anthony Cafari was selected in the Under 14 Second Eleven, and the best keeper in the comp, Luke Rotunno, also received a late call-up when the rep keeper became ill. Our guys performed exceptionally well, with the team making it all the way through to the Grand Final and winning it. Well done!

Jess D'Elton and Julia Spagna from our U12s were both selected in the North West Wizards Girls U14 team. That's another achievement for Moonee Valley.

It is a wonderful achievement to have 6 of our kids selected in rep teams and we should all be very proud of them all.

With the Under 14 teams, Jake Toa was unlucky to miss selection and Matt Wenlock received a late call-up but was already booked on a trip to NZ.

**Thanks to our Under 14 Co-ordinator Darren Nagle for this report.
