Vale Jim Noonan

by

The Moonee Valley Cricket Club offers its condolences to the family of Jim Noonan, who played in our second Premiership, in 1974/75.
Jim passed away this week, aged 97.
Jim was in the First Eleven team which won the C Grade premiership, with teammates including Ken McLeod, Rod McLeod, Dick Reddish, Bill Nagel and Ray Storey.
Described as an opening bat who was difficult to dislodge, Jim was also a handy first-change bowler who used a round-arm action to pick up wickets.
Jim's son Garry also played 45 games for the Valleys in the early 1980s.
Grandson Jack, who played junior cricket at Moonee Valley, also played one senior game in February 2009, when Garry made a one-game return appearance.
Jack has also played for MVFC in the annual Ian Denny Cup cricket challenges between the cricket and football clubs.
