Moonee Valley won its third under 16s premiership with a dominant nine-wicket win over Pascoe Vale-Hadfield on Fridays, March 7-14.

In a partnership with Kensington, Valley won the toss and elected to bat first, making 0/114 from our first 20 overs with David Lubansky (56no) and Jeremy Sevenson (37no) putting together a chanceless partnership.

Pascoe Vale-Hadfield put up a solid reply of 3/90 from its first 20 overs on day one, with Campbell Byars picking up two wickets and Aksha Perera one as Jeremy Sevenson and Mehmet Ozgurler both took good catches.

PVH batted first on day two, and Moonee Valley-Kensington took full control, quickly ripping out the last seven wickets to bowl the visitors out for 148.

Campbell Byars finished with three wickets, Aksha Perera and David Lubansky took two each, and Ciaran Posar, Eli Vlachos and Tom Tatulaschwili grabbed one each.

Jeremy Sevenson held on to three catches, David Lubansky ended up with two and Mehmet Ozgurler finished with his grab from day one.

MVK needed only 35 more runs to win the Grand Final when it resumed its innings, and Jeremy Sevenson and David Lubansky picked up where they left off by pushing their partnership to 146, the highest for the team all season.

Jeremy hit a boundary to bring up his 50 but was unfortunately out on the next ball with just three runs to win, leaving David to clobber his fourth six straight down the ground to bring up the winning runs.

Moonee Valley-Kensington finished on 1/153 – Jeremy (52 off 72) was the only wicket to fall as David crafted a classy 83no off 91 balls and Lachlan McDermott (1no off 2) had the unforgettable memory of being at the crease when the winning runs were hit.

The Moonee Valley-Kensington premiership team was: Tom Tatulaschwili, Dante Mazzarella, Rayan Raziq, Clyde Baker, David Lubansky, Jeremy Sevenson, Aksha Perera, Lachlan McDermott, Campbell Byars, Eli Vlachos ©, Ciaran Posar ©, Christian Marchionno, Mehmet Ozgurler. Andreas Skiotis and Josh Norsetter (coaches), Rebecca Lubansky (scorer).

Moonee Valley and Kensington Cricket Clubs congratulate everyone involved on a sensational achievement and looks forward to seeing all the boys playing senior cricket for both clubs for years to come!
