The cricket's back at Moonee Valley

by Charlie Walker

It's time to get back into cricket at Moonee Valley, with five of our six senior teams on the park this weekend. They're all one-day games.

The Firsts play East Coburg at Brearley Reserve in Pascoe Vale South. We're fourth on the ladder, just 0.97 points ahead of the fifth-placed team. A win this weekend is vital.

The Seconds are at home to East Keilor. We're fifth on the ladder, just 0.42 points outside the top four. East Keilor is third, and we leapfrog them with a win.

The Thirds are also at home, on Sunday against Monash University. The Thirds are fifth on the ladder, just 1 point outside the top four.

The Fourths are away on Sunday, playing Melbourne Strikers down at Fawkner Park No. 5 oval. After a promising start we've lost the last four games in a row, but are still just 2 points outside the top four.

Danny Terzini's Fifths are at home on Saturday against Royal Park Reds. We're fifth, and eight points shy of fourth spot, so a win on Saturday is vital.

The Sixths - Doug Cumming's team - recommence their season a week later. We're travelling comfortably in sixth spot.

Training's on as usual this week, so let's put in a good effort on the training track to be ready for the challenges of the second half of the season.

Juniors resume the second half of the year at the end of January.

Cheers,

Charlie Walker.
