Special General Meeting - Thursday, September 16

Dear Moonee Valley Cricket Club Members

I would like to inform you of an important meeting your committee request you attend on Thursday September 16 in the Bowling Club Rooms at Ormond Park starting at 7pm. For playing members this will be shortly after the usual cricket training session finishes.

In accordance with Section 10 of the Moonee Valley Cricket Club Rules & Bylaws, I hereby give you the appropriate notice for this event.

The purpose of this extraordinary general meeting is to vote upon a proposal to incorporate our club as the Moonee Valley Cricket Club Incorporated. As such, the agenda item is "to apply for incorporation as an association under the Associations Incorporation Act 1981".

As some of you know, Incorporation was an agenda item at our recent Annual General Meeting, and members were informed that an investigation was taking place.

Following our detailed investigation we have discovered that across Victoria and Australia it is common practice for cricket clubs like ours to be singularly incorporated as too are the other clubs who share the grounds and facilities. The advantages of being singularly incorporated far outweigh any disadvantages and you will be fully informed of these at the meeting.

As such your committee unanimously endorses this proposal and recommends it to you as a demonstration of good governance of your club in 2010 and beyond.

The committee would like to also make it clear that this in no way effects our continued involvement as a sports section and member of the Moonee Valley Sporting Club. This association will continue and we look forward to achieving even greater success for all Ormond Park clubs with this collective strength.
