Seven out of seven for Valley teams

Coach Rex Bennett set our teams the challenge of winning tough after Christmas, and all seven senior teams rose to the challenge on the January 18/19 weekend.

Rex told us it would be hotter and harder at this time of year, and players took notice.

All seven senior teams won - the Firsts, Seconds, Sixths and Sevenths won their one-day games on the Saturday, the Fourths and Fifths won their one-dayers on the Sunday and the Thirds - our only team playing a two-day game - finished off in style on Sunday to press home the advantage they earned on Day 1.

It was a good continuation, as all seven teams also won their last games before the Christmas break.

Highlights of the January wins included 94 by Peter O'Kane (pictured above) in the Seconds, an unbeaten 79 by Lou Raffaele in the Fifths, 64 not out by Mark Cini in the Sixths and 59 by Kris Garland in the Firsts.

Wickets were shared, with three-wicket hauls for Neil King in the Sevenths, Rex Bennett and Khalid Hassan in the Firsts and Dean Jukic in the Fourths.
