Sean’s an all-round Star
Young Moonee Valley cricketer Sean Ross was one of our big hitters in our Under 12 Premiership win in 2005/06 – and he’s a big hit with the rest of the Club as well in the equipment stakes.
Sean entered a Leader Newspapers competition/Rebel Sports competition to provide funding for grass-roots sporting projects – and won $1000 worth of sporting gear for the Moonee Valley Cricket Club. Sean put his request to verse – and came up trumps.
His entry read:
The Under 12s at Moonee Valley Cricket Club
We are a great team there is no doubt
It’s because the volunteer coaches know what it’s about
We need more bats and helmets we know
And that’s where Grass Roots Gold can come in and STEAL THE SHOW!
Club Junior Co-ordinator Charlie Walker said he was impressed with Sean’s initiative and the benefits it brought for Moonee Valley.
“We’ll be keen to have Sean come with us to Rebel Sports to help select the equipment, which will be of great benefit to our teams,” he said.
“Certainly we’ll ensure that Sean’s team has the helmets and bats which it needs – thanks to Sean and to Rebel Sports.”
Sean was one of the stars in the Under 12 G Grand Final win over Keilor, with 25no and 2/10 off four overs.
He was fittingly the player of the finals for his batting, bowling and fielding and with his exceptional running between the wickets.
