Moonee Valley AGM 2005/06
The Moonee Valley Cricket Club’s annual general meeting was held in the bowling clubrooms on Friday, June 30, with a small crowd of members in attendance.
Outgoing Treasurer Tony Gleeson reported on a satisfying profit for the year, while outgoing president Darren Nagle reflected on his 21 years on the committee, the past 13 as leader, in his report.
A rewrite of our Bylaws, which had previously been circulated, was voted on and accepted by the members present.
With Darren and Tony standing down, the following members were elected unopposed to the committee:
President – Sandro Capocchi.
Vice-president – Jim Polonidis.
Secretary – Michael Felle.
Treasurer – Peter Fenaughty.
Assistant Treasurer – Paul Comino.
Junior Co-ordinator – Charlie Walker.
Canteen Manager – Adele Walker.
Equipment Manager – Kevin Gardiner.
There are still two unfilled positions on the committee – the sponsorship manager and functions manager.
Anyone interested should ring Sandro Capocchi on 0405 956 185.
Former coach Rex Bennett, now coaching Premier team North Melbourne, asked about the progress of moving the Third Eleven to turf. He was advised this will be further examined.
The meeting was also told about an application for grants which has been submitted to the Moonee Valley City Council in association with the Sporting Club.
The four projects we’re seeking funding for, in order of priority, are the upgrade of the two existing cricket training nets; a storage shed inside the bowling club compound; a new football coach’s box; and two extra cricket training nets.
We expect the outcome of these applications to be known when the Council finalises its budget around August.
