OUR FIRST ELEVEN HONORING OUR HEATH Moonee Valley's line-up to honor the Webb-Johnson/Pascu Cup on December 12 - L-R Sam Younghusband, Jordon McDonald, Glen Courts, Zac Nilsson, Dejan Gilevski, Alec McIntyre, Anthony Cafari, Luke Brock, Charles Bibby, Jack Newman and Sunil Bhandari, with umpire Neil Dey. Moonee Valleys First Eleven cricketers got the opportunity to honor past team-mate Heath Webb-Johnson with a win in the second year of the Webb-Johnson/Pascu Cup match against Moonee Ponds - formerly Aberfeldie Park. The two clubs came together last season to honor two loved and respected players and mates no longer with us - Heath Webb-Johnson of Moonee Valley and Gary Pascu of Aberfeldie Park. Heath's dad Neville attended the start of the match, where both teams lined up in front of the Ormond Park pavilion for a minute's silence. Neville also said a few words to acknowledge the support of the two teams. At right: Neville Webb-Johnson speaks to the players of both teams. Last year's game was played between the clubs' Second Elevens, as the line-ups that season included a number of players with direct links to the two. This year it reverted to the Firsts. It was scheduled for Round 1, but with the wash-out the match was rescheduled for the make-up round. In a hard-fought contest, Moonee Valley compiled 7/185 off our 40 overs, on the back of 57 not out from coach Glen Courts, who was on one-leg for a fair part of the innings after twanging a hamstring. Jordon McDonald with 36 and Charles Bibby with 29 rounded out the score. Moonee Ponds got off to a flier in the chase, losing the first wicket at 51 in the ninth over. Our spinners and medium pacers then took over, bowling them out in the 34th over for 132. Dejan Gilevski with 3/12 and Jordon McDonald with 2/22 got among the wickets.
