Our condolences to the Gorham family

by

The Moonee Valley Cricket Club passes on its sincere condolences to Carolyn Gorham and sons Daniel and Alex on the passing of Rod.

Rodney Ian Gorham played 19 games with Moonee Valley starting in 2008/09, scoring 60 runs and taking 10 wickets.

Rod was part of a father/son team which gave many of our juniors their first start in senior cricket.

He was a strong supporter of our junior program as his sons Daniel and Alex worked their way up through the ranks and into senior cricket. Rod was also an enthusiastic supporter of the wider club and our social opportunities.

Daniel was a two-time junior premiership winner while Alex played in one junior flag and also our groundbreaking Sixths premiership in 2013/14 - for all 11 players it was their first senior premiership at Moonee Valley.

Rod's passing came after an eight-year battle with Motor Neurone Disease.

An advocate for people living with MND and a pioneering participant in the development of the Synchron brain-computer interface, he helped advance groundbreaking research that is transforming possibilities for those affected by neurological diseases.

Through his courage, generosity, and commitment to innovation, Rod contributed to progress that will benefit others for years to come.
