Our AGM 2006/07
by
The Moonee Valley Cricket Club’s annual general meeting was held in the bowling clubrooms on Friday, June 15.
Treasurer Peter Fenaughty reported a satisfying profit for the year, including $7505 which has been set aside in the accounts for the project to build two new nets at Ormond Park.
The following members were elected unopposed to the committee:
President – Sandro Capocchi.
Vice-president – Jim Polonidis.
Treasurer – Peter Fenaughty.
Assistant Treasurer – Paul Comino.
Junior Co-ordinator – Charlie Walker.
Equipment Manager – Kevin Gardiner.
Social Manager – Daniel Phillips.
Merchandising Manager – Paul Hedjes.
Secretary Michael Felle had not been able to complete the role in 2006/07, and did not renominate. Canteen Manager Adele Walker and Sponsorship Manager Joe Ansaldo also did not renominate.
As a result, there are still three unfilled positions on the committee – the secretary, sponsorship manager and canteen manager. Anyone interested should ring Sandro Capocchi on 0405 956 185.
The meeting was told about our proposal to enter a women’s team in the Victorian Women’s Cricket Association next season, and the progress we have made in discussions to enable this to happen.
Discussion was also held on the project to build two new nets, and how the current configuration of just two nets is now inadequate for our Club. We had three nets when we had just four teams in the 1990s, and now we have 20 senior and junior teams and just two nets.
The meeting was told that we are looking at numbers for a ninth senior team in 2007/08. With the women’s team that would make 10 senior teams, and Charlie Walker spoke of projections which indicate the possibility of four extra junior teams – making 16 in total.
