Our 50th dinner/ball: Postponed due to COVID spike

After considerable deliberation, the 50th Anniversary Sub-Committee has determined that it would be ill-advised to proceed with our planned 50th Anniversary function at Ultima Receptions on Sat 29th January.
The current situation with high levels of community transmission of COVID-19, in particular the Omicron variant has meant that we could not be at all certain that a thoroughly safe environment would be provided to hold this indoor gathering. 
We have also had informal feedback suggesting that attendance for many would be problematic.
Also given consideration was the prospect that restrictions on such events could well come into force in the period between now and the 29th January. We fully intend to hold this function but unfortunately can't commit to a timeframe for it at this stage.
However, the Reverse Raffle function to be held at Moonee Valley Cricket Club's Ormond Park pavilion will go ahead on Sunday January 30, as it is largely an outdoor gathering.
We are confident that we will be able to proceed in compliance with all current mandated requirements. This may be subject to change if the current COVID-19 situation and the nature of restrictions alters.
We will keep people informed via email as to the status of the Reverse Raffle function in the event of any changes that may affect our capacity to hold the function.
While this postponement is disappointing in view of the enthusiasm of current and ex-players for both these eagerly-anticipated events, we as an organization can only stress the need to provide a safe environment during the pandemic.

NB: If you are in touch with other ex-MVCC players, please advise them of the 50th Anniversary in case we haven't been able to contact them and please pass on our contact details below so they can get in touch with us.

It would be greatly appreciated by all if everyone could participate in our major raffle; it has been extremely difficult in the past 2 seasons to raise funds to keep the club in a healthy position.
Tickets are $50 each and this gets you entry on the Sunday with free beer, wine and soft drink for the first 2 hours as well as an abundance of tasty foods.
We appreciate not all can attend but you also get the opportunity to win the below prizes:

$500 third prize
Please note once the raffle has commenced no other tickets will be sold!!!
