Matt and Pat make team of the year

by

Moonee Valley's Matt Thomas and Pat Felmingham have been selected in the VTCA team of the year for the North B Division.

Matt was also given the honor of captaining the team - which was selected by all the captains in our grade.

The selections come on the back of an excellent season with both bat and ball from Matt, and a punishing display of power hitting by Pat, particularly in the first half of the season. Pat was also voted in as keeper in the team.

Matt made 358 runs @ 29.83 runs in the Firsts, while Pat powered to 407 runs @ 29.07, with an imperious 99 as his top score.

Pat FelminghamMatt, who also took 27 wickets @ 15.52 to win the Moonee Valley First Eleven bowling average, also took out our Club Champion award for the second year running.

Our Firsts missed the finals by one wicket - we were twice just one wicket away from an outright win which would have given us the points - so it was pleasing to see two of our players recognised in the team of the year.

The team was voted on by all the captains in the grade - with the criteria that no captain could award votes to anyone from their own team.

Matt was selected to bat at No. 6 in the team, with Pat following him at No. 7 - and you would be hard-pressed to find a harder-hitting wicketkeeper coming in down the order.
