Junior performances - November 1/3 weekend
by Brendan Rhodes
Rain put paid to most of the games last weekend, with only one senior team taking to the field for a dominant victory, while the 1st Grade T20 team had another heartstopping win in the dark last Tuesday night. The juniors had one win and three teams with a bit of work to do halfway through their games.
We had no junior players in the winning 3rds team, with 2s, 4s and 6s (where boys were selected) all washed out.
There are likely to again be plenty of positions available in teams on both days this weekend, so please let me know as soon as possible if you are keen for a game (including the boys who have been unavailable the past couple of weeks - I've lost track of how long you said you were unavailable for).
1st Grade NWMCA Twenty20 - T20 - Moonee Valley 7/208 def Jacana (2) 5/203 by three wickets. A massive chase for our boys after a poor bowling and fielding display. The batting, however, showed just how much spirit there is in this club as we hunted down 10+ runs per over with two balls to spare. Junior coaches Anthony Cafari 2/23 and 73, Jack Newman 32 and Channa de Silva 29 were the stars. Ladder Position: 12th
1st Grade - Two Dayer - Moonee Valley v Jacana - Play Abandoned, one-day match this week. Ladder Position: 3rd
2nd Grade - Two Dayer - Moonee Valley v Jacana - Play Abandoned, one-day match this week. Ladder Position: 1st
3rd Grade - 45 overs - Moonee Valley 3/59 def Flemington 54 by seven wickets with 192 balls to spare. The only game in this grade to get on, and our boys were sensational, with Dean Jukic 5/9 and debutant Ash Tokhi 2/14 leading the way. Ladder Position: 1st
4th Grade - 45 overs - Moonee Valley drew Thornbury Turf Strokers - Match Abandoned. Ladder Position: 8th
5th Grade - general bye. Ladder Position: 1st
6th Grade - Two Dayer - Moonee Valley v Preston Druids - Play Abandoned, one-day match this week. Ladder Position: 6th
7th Grade - general bye. Ladder Position: 7th
Under 16 (1) - Two Dayer - Moonee Valley v Youlden Parkville 5/306. A big chase required for our boys. Sorry, no bowling details submitted again. Come on coaches please. Ladder Position: 5th
Under 16 (2) - Two Dayer - Moonee Valley 8/37 v St Bernards 3/144. Another team with a bit of a fightback needed. No details submitted. Ladder Position: 3rd
Under 14 (1) - Two Dayer - Moonee Valley 9/81 v Youlden Parkville 2/147. Noah Nimorakiotakis batted excellently to make 24no and Matthew Bocquet got 17. Noah and Lachie Monger picked up the wickets with the ball. Ladder Position: 7th
Under 12 (4) - T20 - Moonee Valley 2/160 def PEGS 5/89 by 71 runs. Super effort by the whole team! Max Talone took 2/1 and Archie Frazer and James Blanch also grabbed wickets. Jeremy Sevenson belted 25no off his 10 balls, Angus Hughes made a terrific 23no, Max got 14 retired, Eden Del Citto made 13 retired and James B 12 retired. I said well done boys last week, but sorry Katherine, I didn't deliberately forget you!!! So well done girl and boys! Ladder Position: 4th
Under 10 - One-dayer - Moonee Valley v Strathmore. Can't tell you anything again. C'mon coaches, I'd love to give your players a boost here, but I can't if I don't know how they went!
