OUR SEASON LAUNCH 2025/26

Our season launch will be held at the Moonee Ponds Club on Saturday, October 4 – the date of the first round for 2025/26, and we need all players and supporters to be there.
It will be held in the MPC Dining Room come hail, rain or shine – whether or not Round 1 gets under way.
The launch will also incorporate the announcement andpresentation of the trophies for our winter comp team. We had strong numbers for our winter comp squad and put in a good showing with two late wins, so we’ve certainly got something to celebrate.
The launch will start around 6.30pm. There is no admission charge, and guests will order and pay for their meals off the standard menu. Saturday night is Parma night at the Moonee Ponds Club, so the $20 parmas will no doubt be a favorite.
We will issue a reminder closer to the date, when we will also ask for confirmations so that we can give firmer numbers to the Moonee Ponds Club.

Appointment - Our Junior Head Coach

Jack Newman
I am delighted to announce that Jack Newman (right) will be our Junior Head Coach for the upcoming 25/26 season.
Jack was the First XI captain for MVCC for last six years and has coaching experience with Juniors previously. Because of an injury Jack is currently taking a break from play.
Jack will plan and put in place a training plan for development of our players in our junior sides on the training track. This will include input from some existing senior players and include the willing parents. At this stage we will have training on Tuesday U10s and U12s and Thursday for U14s.
I look forward to working with Jack to and all parents to have a excellent season of cricket for our juniors
If you have any questions please call me.

WINTER COMP 2025 - OUR SEASON

Our Winter Comp team for the breakthrough win - L-R Tony Van Beek, Aksha Perera, Indika Perera, Joe Adams, Ewen Campbell, Maks Rahman, Sunny Singh, Vansh Tandon, Gurinder Dhaliwal, Javed Mushtaq, Rohit Chaudhary.

Our Winter Comp team for the breakthrough win - L-R Tony Van Beek, Aksha Perera, Indika Perera, Joe Adams, Ewen Campbell, Maks Rahman, Sunny Singh, Vansh Tandon, Gurinder Dhaliwal, Javed Mushtaq, Rohit Chaudhary.
Moonee Valley had slow start but finished the Mid Year Cricket Association season with a flourish and a couple of good wins.
We have had a team in the Winter Comp every season since 2013, apart from the COVID years when the comp was shut down. Moonee Valley joined just four years after winter cricket commenced in Melbourne, so we're pioneers.
Our first win for 2025 came over Balmoral in round 6, chasing down their 9/208 just four wickets down in the 33rd over. We followed up with a good win over Kashmir Stars the following round.
Our team started the season with young gun Krish Kanchan as captain, but he handed over to Maks Rahman after a couple of rounds due to weekend work commitments.
We had plenty of numbers for each round, in contrast to recent seasons when we were perenially short of players.
Overall - a good season.

MVCC Annual General Meeting 2025

The Moonee Valley Cricket Club annual general meeting was held at the Moonee Ponds Club on Monday, July 14.
Treasurer Allan Cumming presented his Treasurer's Report to the members, showing a modest profit.
The four executive members were re-elected unopposed - President Charlie Walker, Secretary Sarah Fenn, Vice President Mark Gauci and Treasurer Allan Cumming.
Other committee members re-elected were Junior Co-ordinator Paul Sevenson; Sponsorship Manager Dom Gibaldi; and general members Paul Simon, Brayden McGregor, Jack Newman, Andreas Skiotis, Brendan Rhodes and Peter Golding. The meeting also elected Dejan Gilevski and Tom Janetzki to the committee.

Call for expressions of interest – turf curator

The Moonee Valley Cricket Club is seeking a curator to prepare our wickets at Ormond Park in Moonee Ponds, following the retirement of our long-term curator.

Ormond Park has a five wicket deck. The club has turf teams which play Saturdays and Sundays. The same strip is used on both days, and is rejuvenated Sunday mornings.

Interested applicants should email their resume and details to Moonee Valley President Charlie Walker at [email protected] or contact 0411 705 381.
