Our Moonee Valley Cricket Club AGM - outcome

The annual general meeting 2022/23 of the Moonee Valley Cricket Club Inc. was held on Monday, August 21 at the Moonee Ponds Club.

Charlie Walker - returned as President.Charlie Walker in his President’s Report outlined a number of highlights, including our 50th anniversary dinner, the elevation of club co-founder Ray Storey to Moonee Valley’s first official Legend, and the Premiership wins for our Fourths and our Women’s team.
The Fourths win was the second in three years under captain Manu Singh – and only the third in 40 years of Fourth Eleven cricket at the Valley. The women’s flag was our third in a row.

The meeting was told that both Treasurer Peter Golding and Secretary Michael Ozbun were stepping down from the Executive, after being part of a stable group for the past five seasons.
Treasurer Peter Golding reported a shortfall in the budget due to a range of factors, including loss of income from fielding two fewer teams than the previous year, the disastrous start to the season because of the weather, and low support for some fundraising functions. He said the income shortfalls were already being addressed.
Around 20 members attended, either in person or via a Zoom link.

The election of officebearers saw:

*Charlie Walker - President (above right ) - returned unopposed for his 16th season.
*Mark Gauci - Vice President - returned unopposed for his sixth season.
* Brendan “Jonty” Rhodes - Secretary – elected on the night.
*Allan Cumming - Treasurer - elected unopposed.
*Paul Sevenson – Junior Co-Ordinator – elected unopposed.
* Domenic Gibaldi – Sponsorship Manager – elected unopposed.
*Peter Golding – General Committee – Special Projects – elected unopposed.
*General committee members Dean Jukic, Andreas Skiotis, Paul Simon – returned unopposed.
*General committee members – Jack Newman, Luke Brock – elected unopposed.

The meeting showed strong support for greater female involvement in the running of our club, and recommended further canvassing of members for the committee. Any members interested should contact Charlie Walker on 0411 705 381.
