Sfenn-tastic effort - Sarah racks up 50 games
Congratulations to our women's captain and dual premiership player Sarah Fenn on her 50th game on Sunday - only the third women's player to reach the milestone. Sarah captained the team to a strong win over Lalor Warriors, and for good measure our girls were wearing their official club shirts for the first time - until now we've played in white tops. The December 7/8 weekend was a good one for milestones - as well as Sarah's mark, Tom Janetzki played his 50th game and Hayden Trew made his First Eleven debut, becoming Cap No. 288. Sarah, who won the NWMCA comp wicketkeeping award in 2022/23, becomes just the third Valley women's player to reach the 50-game milestone, behind Clare Ardern on 53 and Tanya Intagliata (52). Above: Sarah Fenn celebrated her 50th game with a good win with her teammates. L-R: Back - Katherine Baker, Sarah Pamment, Siobhan Donohoe and Abby Pruijmboom. Front - Fiona Bathie, Sandra Verschoor, Sarah Fenn and Yasmin King. Along the way Sarah played a season of winter comp with the Valley guys, and also puts her hand up to play in our men's Saturday teams when required. Sarah is the MVCC Secretary and with her enthusiasm and commitment we know we're in good hands - and for many seasons and games to come. Congratulations Sarah, and to Tom and Hayden.
Past and present players get together
The regular function for past and current players was held in the Ormond Park pavilion on November 30, and tall tales and true were spread around the function room. The guest list was headed by Moonee Valley's official Legend, Ray Storey and his wife Heather, who were down from their home on the Murray for the event. Above: Back in familiar territory: Club founder and official Moonee Valley Legend Ray Storey and wife Heather. Persistent rain washed out the day's play so the gathering didn't get the opportunity to watch our Firsts and Fifths in action, but that didn't dampen the enthusiasm. The evening was organised by our Moonee Valley Cricket Club Past & Present Players & Supporters group - you can find more details on the club Facebook page or here . Thanks to Dean Lawson for the lamb cooked on the Club's new charcoal spit - cooked to perfection. ***For more pictures from the function, click HERE

David does it -
first ton for the
Valleys
Young gun David Lubansky has scored his first century for Moonee Valley, helping his Under 16 team to a strong win. Playing in our combined team with Kensington, David his his unbeaten 100 off just 108 balls. He was well supported by fellow Valley young gun Jeremy Sevenson, who made a brisk 45 off 37 balls. Both David and Jeremy are also regulars in our Fourths, which play C Grade turf in Mercantile on Sundays. At left: David Lubansky raises the bat after his maiden century for Moonee Valley. It's amazing to think how far David has come since he played his first senior game while still in our Under 12s. Even on debut in November 2021 - David took a very tidy 2/26 off six overs against Reservoir Mayston, and making a confident 2 with the bat before being caught. Here's to many more centuries and many more runs.
