David does it -
first ton for the
Valleys
Young gun David Lubansky has scored his first century for Moonee Valley, helping his Under 16 team to a strong win. Playing in our combined team with Kensington, David his his unbeaten 100 off just 108 balls. He was well supported by fellow Valley young gun Jeremy Sevenson, who made a brisk 45 off 37 balls. Both David and Jeremy are also regulars in our Fourths, which play C Grade turf in Mercantile on Sundays. At left: David Lubansky raises the bat after his maiden century for Moonee Valley. It's amazing to think how far David has come since he played his first senior game while still in our Under 12s. Even on debut in November 2021 - David took a very tidy 2/26 off six overs against Reservoir Mayston, and making a confident 2 with the bat before being caught. Here's to many more centuries and many more runs.

Shauny, in his 250th game, took a wicket, took a catch and also stunned the Ormond Park crowd with a direct hit runout from side on to swing the match. Luke also had a big day, taking his third senior five-wicket haul - 5/50 to snuff out Point Cook Centrals for 149, after they looked like building a sizeable total. Shaun celebrated his milestone match with a good win over St Albans in the Fifths, while Brocky's Firsts are well placed after Day 1 of their two-day game. At right: Our victorious Thirds team at home for Prashant Hirani's 50th game: L-R Maks Rahman, Sunil Bhandari, Chand Shrestha, Sagar Bhatia, Lachlan Smith, Vansh Tandon, Joshua Norsetter, Prashant Hirani, Vinny Singh, Sukhwinder Jaiswal and Muhammad Amir. And to continue with the milestone theme, Prashant Hirani played his 50th game for Moonee Valley on the Sunday, with the Thirds winning a nailbiter at home v Williamstown Colts. Sagar Bhatia posted his 1000th run for Moonee Valley in the same game.
A gun fielder, Shaun has won eight fielding awards across the grades since he made his debut in 2005/06, and has also taken out both batting and bowling awards. Prashant Hirani bowling in his 50th match, with Chand Shrestha keeping. He was part of our Sixth Eleven Premiership team in 2013/14. Luke made his senior debut at Moonee Valley in 2013/14, and has been a fixture in our First Eleven for a good part of his career to date, opening the bowling and sometimes the batting.
Below: Getting ready to celebrate their milestones: Shaun Rayment (left) and Luke Brock. Luke is a fiery customer with ball in hand, and unsettles the opposition batsmen with his sheer pace. Prashant Hirani in our Thirds brings up his 50th game on Sunday - playing at home. Prashant is the current MVP for the Thirds, was one of our five Wisden Players of the Year in 2022/23 and was in our Wisden Team of the Year in 2020/21.
