We were at the North West's big night Moonee Valley Cricket Club was well represented at the North West Metropolitan Cricket Association's presentation night on April 8. Fifths captain Dan Terzini, regular Fifths player and past NWMCA bowling award winner Pat Taylor and regular Sixths player Nick Taylor were at the dinner, at Gladstone Park's Melrose Receptions. Club president Charlie Walker was also there as a NWMCA Life Member. The Moonee Valley contingent shared a table with the Western Leadbeaters Cricket Club - who we also shared Debney Park with for the 2015/16 season. We didn't take home any awards - but we had plenty of fun. Above: Representing Moonee Valley at the NWMCA - L-R Dan Terzini, Nick Taylor and Pat Taylor. Aces high with our life members on board Moonee Valley Cricket Club combined a Life Members get-together with a poker night on February 27, and we turned the clubrooms into a full house. Club founders Ray Storey and Rod McLeod led the charge, and other life members in attendance included Sandro Capocchi, Ian Denny, Darren Nagle, Mick Harvey, Joe Ansaldo, Bob Sciacchitano, Dean Jukic, Mark Gauci, Jim McKenzie, Danny Terzini, Jim Polonidis, Greg Peters, Kevin Gardiner and Charlie Walker. The life members got to watch the end of the First Eleven game against Maribyrnong Park St Marys and have a feed, before the diehard card players sat down to a night of Texas Hold'em poker. The poker night was a big success in terms of the Club's budget, and thanks to Michael Ozbun, Channa DeSilva, Matt Thomas and the other members for organising it. Held in the upstairs function room of club sponsor the Laurel Hotel in Ascot Vale, the March 13 night enabled the players to let their hair down after a hard-fought season, which saw three of our senior teams make finals. Our overseas players Nadeera "Tuffy" Thuppahi and Chanaka Silva fought out the MVP award for the First Eleven right down to the wire, and in the end couldn't be separated, while Anthony Riggio, in his first season at Moonee Valley, was a clear winner of the fielding award. About three dozen players, plus a strong contingent of partners, enjoyed the chance to dress up and celebrate the night. At top: The old blokes need to sit down (just joking!).
