Club season membership and affiliation payments
We're asking Moonee Valley members to finalise paying their season membership and affiliation fees, to give the club some ongoing money in our account to meet the usual costs such as balls, association affiliation fees and such.
We got a good boost to the account with prompt payment on junior registration day, but need to build on it.
**For details on the fee structure and information on how to pay, go to the "Club News" section on the menu bar at the top of this page.
Our Incredible Ian's 300th Valley game
Moonee Valley all-time great Ian Denny is playing his 300th game for the MVCC this weekend, when he takes to the field with our Fifth Eleven.
It's been an incredible journey for Egbert, since joining our great Club in the 1983/84 season after losing a Grand Final to Moonee Valley the previous year.
Ian's had a couple of absences from the Club over the past decade, but has steadily built up his numbers and is now playing an important role in introducing our young stars of the future to turf cricket in the Fifths.
Along the way, he also played a pre-season with Australia's greatest football club, the magnificent Hawthorn Football Club, and astute judges still remember an incredible practice match at the old Port Melbourne oval before Ian turned down the opportunity to go on with it in the Brown & Gold.
Ian's stats say it all - Life Membership, a Club record 10,916 runs, a Club record 620 wickets, a record 13 Club Champion awards and seven premiership flags.
He's behind only legend Darren Nagle in the games stakes, with Spud pushing on to 328 after being the first to break the 300-match barrier.
Sadly, Spud pulled up sore from last Sunday's Fifths action and has not been able to get up to captain Egbert's milestone match.
Fittingly, Ian is playing the milestone game at Ormond Park. The Sunday game on the turf wicket starts at 12.45pm.
Tipping winners is hard work, says James Remembering our Valley great Peter Gardiner His brother and fellow Moonee Valley Cricket Club Life Member Kevin Gardiner spoke eloquently at the funeral, and MVCC co-founder Ray Storey and Peter's daughter Jessie gave some wonderful insights into the man and his life.
