Egbert reaches 12,000 runs

by

Ian Denny has reached the 12,000 run milestone for Moonee Valley with his 34 not out in the Fourths on Sunday.

The seven-time Premiership player and absolute legend of our Club is streets in front on our list of most runs – second-placed Mark Gauci, with 9 on Sunday, is on 7812, so Ian’s tally is not under threat any time soon.

“There is no doubt in my mind that Ian remains the best cricketer to have graced the cricket field for the mighty Valley,” said fellow legend Darren “Spud” Nagle after hearing of Egbert’s latest achievement.

Ian’s also well in front on the most-wickets tally, with 646 compared to Spud’s 447.

Ian, Mark and Spud are also involved in a close tussle to be the first Valley player to get to 350 games.

Spud’s currently got his nose in front with 347, but Ian and Mark crept one game closer to be both on 344 after their games on Sunday.

Congratulations Ian – a wonderful achievement in a wonderful career that’s not slowing down.
