Deano's 5000 runs

by

Moonee Valley bat Dean Lawson has brought up his 5000-run milestone for the club - just the eighth player in our history to reach this mark.
Deano's masterful 60 before he was run out on Sunday, December 12 set up a good win for our Fourths, and carried him past the 5000 run mark.

He's been a key batsmen across a number of grades since making his debut in 2006/07, and has scored his runs at a brisk run rate, averaging a touch under 30 across the journey.

Deano has four centuries, with a high of 205 not out against Burnside Springs in 2014/15 being an innings of the ages.

He led the way that season with 632 runs @ 45.14, as the Sixths took out their Premiership.

Dean is a solid right-hand opener who doesn’t play for the drinks break, hits the ball hard, still has a good eye and bats well under pressure.

He has been selected eight times in Moonee Valley's Team of the Year in 15 years - as recently as last season - a testament to his consistency and reliability at the top of the order.

Congratulations on your milestone Deano - we're sure there are plenty more runs to come.

**Fifth Eleven co-captain Paddy Shelton reached his 1000-run milestone in their big win on December 11.
