Congratulations to our Fawad

The Moonee Valley Cricket Club offers its congratulations to Fawad Ahmed on being selected in the Australian Test team for the upcoming tours of the West Indies and England.

We’ve followed the career of Fawad with great interest since he played two Twenty20 games for Moonee Valley in 2010.

Fawad is also a close friend of a number of our current and recent players from a Pakistani background, including Ihtisham Uddin, Khalid Hassan, Nasir Ahmed and Murtaza Khaliq.

Leg-spinner Fawad has had a great season in the Sheffield Shield-winning Victorian team,  snaring 48 wickets at an average of 24.79, the most by a spinner in a decade. This included a shield-final record 8-89. 

Club President Charlie Walker passed on our congratulations on behalf of all at Moonee Valley, which Fawad acknowledged in a text message. 

Let’s all cheer him on in the West Indies and in the Ashes tour.
