Beau Velona - our newest hat-trick!

Under 16s youngster Beau Velona became the 15th player in Moonee Valley's history to take a hat-trick when he fired our three Ascot Vale batsmen in our Eighths on February 14.

And they weren't easy scalps - the first batsman was in the 90s, the second was in the 80s and the third was facing his first ball.

Beau has played most of this season in the Sevenths, but dropped down a grade for the match to give a bit more strength to the Eighths.

We didn't win the match, but Beau has made a piece of Moonee Valley history.

His first victim was caught-and-bowled, the second was caught by keeper Shane Comino and the third was bowled.

Beau was a late starter to the sport, and is in only his second season of team cricket.
