A Tayl of woe!
by
The Moonee Valley Cricket Club experienced a unique feat when our Fifth Eleven conceded a hat-trick to Taylors Lakes on October 18.
All three victims were from the one family!
Old heads and experienced campaigners at the club can't remotely think of any chance where this would have occurred in our history. And furthermore, they believe it's such a strange occurrence that it potentially might never have happened anywhere before.
Moonee Valley had limped to 5/31 at the Delahey Recreation Reserve when Pat Taylor (at left) faced up in the 17th over. He was clean bowled for a duck.
Son-in-law Rizwan Thaha came to the crease and suffered the same fate with his first ball.
Next in was son Nick Taylor, who at least got bat to ball and was caught behind.
From 5/31 to 8/31 in the blink of an eye. We took drinks, and Xavier Manson and Peter Smith at least eked out another 10 runs before our innings ended in the 28th over.
