Lawson, Dean
Dean Lawson
June 2009 (stats to end of 08/09)
Was a year below the mighty Darren Nagle in juniors at Avondale Heights - but unlike Spud didn't go on with his career.
Now at Moonee Valley as a Dad, and back in the whites with the advent of the Eighth Eleven. With his team-mates, Deano's now switched over to two-day cricket in the Sixths in the NWCA.
Still a fair way to catch up with Spud's career, but a promising debut with the bat shows he won't give up on catching his former Avondale team-mate easily. And he's been racking up the runs so that he's steadily bridging the gap.
Dean hit 514 runs @ 51.4 in 2008/09, which brought him into Moonee Valley's Wisden Team of the Year. He's the only player to make that team in all three years it's been running since 2006/07.
