Evan Blythe
Joined Moonee Valley mid-season in 2005/06 at the completion of his VCE exams, and made an immediate impact opening the bowling.
Evan slotted nicely into the one-day sides, then was promoted to the Fourths. His finest moment was in Round 11, when he top-scored in the second innings with 24 runs, after a lion-hearted bowling effort in which he took 5/37 and deservedly won the tankard for Player of the Match.
His tough and competititve style has Evan earmarked for a higher level of competition.
Evan continued on with this form in 2006/07, and quickly forced his way into our First Eleven. His inspirational fielding and never-say-die attitude with the ball was outstanding. He took 11 catches in 2006/07 - an exceptional return for a fieldsman.
Evan had an excellent 2009/10 season, taking 42 wickets in the Firsts and Seconds, which earned him the accolade as one of our 2009/10 Wisden Cricketers of the Year and selection in our Team of the Year.
Evan played in our Seconds Premiership in 2009/10, taking a crucial six-wicket haul in the second innings to deny Werribee Centrals the chance to run down our total.
