Ian Denny
June 2009 (stats to end of 2008/09)
Moonee Valley Cricket Club’s greatest-ever player, Ian holds the records for most runs, most wickets and second-most games - now more than 260.
A life member and seven-time Premiership player, he has won every Club award possible and won key best-in-comp titles.
His old captain Greg Peters came out of retirement on the occasion of Ian's 250th game - playing in the Sevenths at Clifton Park in Brunswick.
Chasing 198, Valley was a bit shaky until Ian and Greg came together, putting on an unbeaten 109-run partnership to get the Valleys home. Fittingly, Greg hit a six to bring up the winning total and his 50.
Ian's value to the Club as a player who is prepared to take the field when available is underlined by his 2005/06 season - 356 runs for once out, at the incredible average of 356.
