Nagle, Darren
2005/06
13 years as Club president, ‘Spud’ has played more games than anyone else for the Club and is a life member. He has played in seven Premierships, made more than 4700 runs and is third on the Club’s all-time wicket-taker list.
Spud played most of his career in the First Eleven, but in recent seasons stepped down to the Seconds to enable the development of younger players.
He stepped down as president at the end of the 2005/06 season, after signalling his intention to do so a year before.
In 2007 took on a role as an Under 10 coach, and has built a squad of young players who are now moving through the age groups together. These boys will form a formidable group in the senior ranks at Moonee Valley in seasons to come - all thanks to Darren's dedication.
Darren played a key role in Moonee Valley establishing its junior program in 1996, and as a result of this vision and support the Under 16 bowling award has been named the Darren Nagle Trophy.
